The Greek writer Pliny assumed that the flawlessly beautiful gemstone was formed so high up in the cold that nothing could melt it. Rock crystal belongs to the quartz group, or more precisely, it is quartz in its purest and most transparent form. Rock crystal is a white variety of quartz. Due to its color, it is often referred to as "white quartz". Special feature Rock crystal occurs in groups of several rods pointing in different directions, as well as in prism shape or hexagonal crystals. In general, no two rock crystals are the same, but are unique.
