The Rosso Francia is a limestone that consists mainly of calcium carbonate, i.e. a sedimentary rock, not marble. It is a deep red (nodule limestone) with well-grained white bands. This natural stone is mined in western France and is also known as "Red Languedoc". Its striking red color emphasizes the elegant, long calcite threads in white-silver. The Rosso Francia requires its owner to handle it with care, as it is limestone and does not have the hardness of granite.
